He started with a 1799 expedition of detailed exploring of Moreton Bay (including naming Redcliffe) to Hervey Bay. On Flinders’s later 1802 expedition – Port Curtis was discovered as a decent place for a harbour. Port Curtis later became the capital of the annulled colony of “North Australia“.
